I like watching sings. And shop windows. Admire their composition (or lack thereof, it may also be charming), check whether they can encourage me to step closer and come inside. Some pretend to be old, some – to be nice. There are also a few which don’t have to pretend anything. They know that one may not come by indifferently. Quite not long ago I made such a shop-windows and signs walk down the Cracow’s Kazimierz. Which one persuaded me to take photos – one may find below. Which efficiently encouraged me to enter inside? I won’t say
Alchemia, ul. Estery 5
(precisely: Estery and Plac Nowy corner)
There is not a successful evening without paying a visit to Alchemia. This sign tells more about famous magic of Cracow than a few thick tour guides to Cracow. Who was that knows, who wasn’t and wants to know – let see here: www.alchemia.pl
Barfly Lunch Bar
Plac Nowy 4
Having got broke during the night trips around Cracow it’s impossible not to cheer up seeing sign: Breakfast from 5 PLN. They shall feed you and not ruin your finances. Moreover – maybe they persuade you to Polish traditional dinner such with the stewed fruit. More at: www.barfly.com.pl
Cyklop Drink bar
Bożego Ciała Str. 7
Kosher Beer, as I suppose, is much desired at Kazimierz. Attention – they also recommend Hurricane
Bożego Ciała Str. 11
Keep calm & beer, breakfasts, snack, lunch, supper, coffee, I missed something….?
Hamsa hummus&happiness Israeli Restobar
Szeroka 2 Str. (entrance to the restaurant)
Miodowa 41 Str. (coffe bar)
Opening Hamsa we wanted to create a place where one could transfer into the different world – one may read on this charming restaurant website offering cuisine straight from the Israel. The name of the premises originates from the talisman popular at the Middle East bringing luck and protecting home against the evil spell – so called Hand of Fatima. This symbol is largely known not only in Jewish culture but also in Islam. Its’ significance perfectly fits in a friendly tradition of having meals together. How couldn’t I pay a visit inside? www.hamsa.pl
Dawno Temu na Kazimierzu
Szeroka Str. 1
Restaurant, pub and time journey to the old Jewish Kazimierz in one. From outside it pretends to be a row of small shops with old-fashioned signs. And inside? Inside one may find portrait of a Mr Stanisław Nowak, to watch collection of clothing of Szymon Kac and a stove with Star of David. Sentence on a restaurant’s Facebook site sais that it is on the list of Most Incredible Restaurants in The World. Any other recommendation required?
Szeroka Str. 6
Sitting on a bench at Szeroka street I observed with anxiety a hazardous actions of some woman who was cleaning the windows of Klezmer-Hois, i.e.: House of Klezmer. However I was aware that a building is decent, of 16th century. Till the end of World War II there was mykva. Currently – as one may read on retro sign – the building consists of hotel, restaurant and coffee bar. The fact that its guests were Prince Charles, Steven Spielberg, Ralph Finnes and Roman Polański adds piquancy thereto.

Józefa Str. 11
It’s a hot address for last century fashion. Paradise for brides wishing to appear before the altar in a grandmother’s dress (no matter whose), hipsters looking for sweaters with big flowers in a neighbourhood of golden buttons and women of fashion looking for clips a la Carrington Dynasty.
Józefa Str. 11
Not far from Vintage Classic there are doors to other world. Full of fairy tales, incredible stories and even more incredible illustrations. Go and check. Instructions here: www.lookarna.blogspot.com
Store for fans of young Polish fashion (This horse! Those cats!).
Kuchnia i Wino
Józefa Str. 13
Shelves in red shutters. In some way they flirted with me. The pub itself offers a Mediterranean cuisine. According to the most recent trends. www.kuchniaiwino.eu
Old Timers Garage
Św. Wawrzyńca 22
Sign of Cracow’s Old Time Garage pub in direct neighbourhood of hand – painted sign evidently suggests a grocery from a distant past. Plus 125p Fiat stuck with one grosz coins. Such things only at Kazimierz.
Kawa Lerka – colonial shop and coffee bar
For the fans of small tea – shops’ scent and smell of home – made cakes.
La Habana Pub
The only Cuban pub – what more may be said?
In Trip Advisor there is an information that LueLue gallery is 229th on the list of 455 attractions of Cracow (whatever it means).I would also add an information that there one may buy pictures printed on canvas. www.luelue.pl
Miodowa Str. 28a
How the sign says – Vodka and Other Drinks in impressive quantities. I.e.: perfect place to buy a souvenir from Poland.
Polish cuisine – always sounds familiarly and nice. In dungeons of 19 century mansion. For elegant dinner. For more information I advise to go to:
Wąska Str. 2
Zalewajka, charming with minimal logotype and bathed in whiteness front wall is a another place for fans of traditional Polish cuisine. There are stuffed cabbages and pork. And zalewajka certainly – simple and delicious country soup, on leaven with potatoes.
