I like watching sings. And shop windows. Admire their composition (or lack thereof, it may also be charming), check whether they can encourage me to step closer and come inside. Some pretend to be old, some – to be nice. There are also a few which don’t have to pretend anything. They know that one may not come by indifferently. Quite not long ago I made such a shop-windows and signs walk down the Cracow’s Kazimierz. Which one persuaded me to take photos – one may find below. Which efficiently encouraged me to enter inside? I won’t say

Opening Hamsa we wanted to create a place where one could transfer into the different world – one may read on this charming restaurant website offering cuisine straight from the Israel. The name of the premises originates from the talisman popular at the Middle East bringing luck and protecting home against the evil spell – so called Hand of Fatima. This symbol is largely known not only in Jewish culture but also in Islam. Its’ significance perfectly fits in a friendly tradition of having meals together. Restaurant, pub and time journey to the old Jewish Kazimierz in one. From outside it pretends to be a row of small shops with old-fashioned signs. And inside? Inside one may find portrait of a Mr Stanisław Nowak, to watch collection of clothing of Szymon Kac and a stove with Star of David. Sentence on a restaurant’s Facebook site sais that it is on the list of Most Incredible Restaurants in The World. Any other recommendation required?
Klezmer-Hois

Sitting on a bench at Szeroka street I observed with anxiety a hazardous actions of some woman who was cleaning the windows of Klezmer-Hois, i.e.: House of Klezmer. However I was aware that a building is decent, of 16th century. Till the end of World War II there was mykva. Currently – as one may read on retro sign – the building consists of hotel, restaurant and coffee bar. The fact that its guests were Prince Charles, Steven Spielberg, Ralph Finnes and Roman Polański adds piquancy thereto.

Zalewajka, charming with minimal logotype and bathed in whiteness front wall is a another place for fans of traditional Polish cuisine. There are stuffed cabbages and pork. And zalewajka certainly – simple and delicious country soup, on leaven with potatoes.
